Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley has reaffirmed his support for repeal and will be in attendance at both hearings this week. He is expected to testify in support of repeal.
Senior religious leaders across Maryland have reaffirmed their support for repeal now.
Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. has pledged to allow the repeal bill to have a full hearing and vote on the Senate floor.
A majority of Maryland's legislators are ready to vote for repeal now.
